There was always something so safe about the night, but Zara would never place her finger on what exactly made it that way. Perhaps it was how the darkness cloaked her from the world, hid her faults beneath the moon, or maybe even the way the stars reflected in her eyes. Who knows? But as she parked the beat up motorcycle that she bought off of a red neck last month, she couldn't help but glance around at the trees that hid God knows what within their branches. Shrugging off the eerie feeling that tingled up her spine, the shifter walked into Merlotte's.
The place was alive and jumping with laughter and life, it brought a bright smile to her face. The clinking of glasses and the shots of a game of pool echoed as she took a seat at the bar, ordering anything that they had on tap. Zara glanced around happily, pulling the sleeves of her jacket down out of habit. This town was really growing on her. And she didn't mind it at all, after all the time she had spent dreaming of escaping to a big city, she found she missed the small town life and all it had to offer.
Which was why Bon Temps had made its way into her heart, small enough to actually know your neighbors and large enough to disappear into a crowd if she needed to. But as she watched some frat boys shooting pool out of the corner of her eye, drinking and having a good time, she honestly hoped she wouldn't have to.
Instead, she took a sip of her beer and decided to enjoy the rowdy sense of peace while it lasted. After all, things never really seem to go Zara's way, ever. But it didn't mean she couldn't still hope, and let the moment last.
